Nestled under a canopy of mature trees and perched on the narrow rise of land between the pebble & sand beach of Lake Erie on the east & the natural beauty & serenity of the Lake Henry Marsh on the west, we are the ultimate private cottage escape , being the very last cottage at the northern terminus of East Shore Road where the nature trail to the Lighthouse begins. At 2,000 square feet and 3 bedrooms, Breakwater Cottage provides ample comfortable space for a large family or group of friends and relaxing rustic comfort. Breakwater Cottage borders Ontario’s Lighthouse Point Nature Reserve to the north; a short walk in the woods or along the beach will bring you to the famed and beautifully restored Pelee Lighthouse. Step outside from our enclosed windowed sunroom & you are on your own 250 feet of Lake Erie waterfront, consisting of a large rock breakwall protecting the Cottage, with expansive stretches of private beach on either side, curving both north & south. Sunrises viewed in your pyjamas with a steaming coffee in your hand in our sunroom facing the Lake; sunsets casting a warming orange glow, as delicious smoke rises from the BBQ as you grill dinner. Sure beats a day in the office.

- Stroll the many beaches
- Stay up late and sleep in as long as you like
- Watch the birds & butterflies dance across the garden
- Swim in the warm waters of Lake Erie, or just splash about on the miles of shallow sandbars
- Fish, Kayak, or float in an inner tube
- Bike into Town to visit the Winery, tour the fascinating Museum, grab a meal at one of our Island Restaurants, cool down with an ice cream cone or just enjoy the journey & exercise
- Read the latest best seller you haven’t had opportunity too
- Play board games and cards with the kids
- Compose or listen to music
- watch the stars and listen to the sounds of the night creatures
- Make delicious leisurely meals for family & friends in our fully equipped kitchen
- OR………Do absolutely nothing!
You will have Space to:
- Sleep 6 people comfortably in our 3 bedrooms (more kids can sleep on the couch)
- Dine at our huge indoor picnic table
- Play games or do crafts at the round table
- Nap on one of the comfy couches or simply stare out at the Lake
- Cook and entertain in a fully equipped, open concept kitchen
- Rock in the old chairs in the screened in sunroom & read a good book or enjoy a glass of Pelee wine
- Play Tag, Frisbee, football or soccer on the expansive lawn or right on our beach
- Have a quiet secluded retreat to call your very own (even if surrounded by family)!

Breakwater Cottage offers 3 private bedrooms:
The Pheasant– Queen size bed with large picture window facing Lake Erie
The Cat – Queen sized bed with a sliding door opening out onto the lakeside outdoor deck
The Butterfly– Two single beds with double windows
Storage is ample with closets and chests of drawers
The expansive living – dining space consists of an open concept, B.C. Cedar lined kitchen combined with a generous living room, walking out to the sunroom overlooking nothing but miles of open water. You can study boats passing on Lake Erie while cooking in the kitchen! Overstuffed couches and chairs, entertainment centre with DVD and T.V. & CD player/radio, selection of board games, cards and puzzles.
Large indoor wooden picnic table sits 8 easily as well as a separate round table for intimate romantic dinners for 2! The “cool” folk can grab a bar stool and eat at the big kitchen island.
Large refrigerator – you won’t run short on cold beverages in the summer heat!
Our Cottage has a microwave, but no dishwasher or air conditioning.
Outdoor Propane BBQ.
Wood burning stove in the corner of the family room surrounded by walls of crafted Pelee stonework and fans in every room. Lots of windows that open wide to admit the cooling lake breezes.
Our cottage has the convenience of two bathrooms, one with a modern spacious shower, and one with a relaxing antique claw footed bath tub & hand-painted Mexican sink.
Private off-road parking area for 4 cars.
THINGS TO BRING WITH YOU:
Please bring all your own pillows & bed linens (many people find sleeping bags are easier!), towels (bath & beach), toiletries, drinking water, beach toys, sunscreen and bug spray.
We provide toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap pillows (no pillowcases).
Breakwater Cottage is thoroughly cleaned between all bookings by professional cleaners and this service is included in your rental fee. If for any reason you don’t find our cottage spotless when you arrive – we want to hear about it!
There is no smoking inside the cottage and please take care if smoking outdoors – outside sand cans are provided to butt out in; please kindly use them.
We will accept well trained & behaved pet dogs (or cats) and hunting bird dogs for an additional fee of $100.00 to cover additional special cleaning after your stay ( as our next guests may be allergic to your 4-footed-friend).
