Some Practical Pelee Island Tips & Suggestions:

*make your car ferry reservations well in advance of your planned visit, as the number of sailings & vehicle spaces are limited & the ferry can be booked solid in the busy summer months – don’t be disappointed !

*re-confirm your car reservation date & time by phone a few days in advance of your visit & be at the dock one hour in advance of your sailing time;

*no reservations are needed for bikes & pedestrians to board the ferry;

*fill your vehicle with gas before boarding the ferry, as our gasoline supply on the Island is limited;

*good sunscreen & reliable bug spray/insect repellent are KEY!

*Bring good walking shoes; lightweight long pants (& billowing long-sleeved tops) work wonders against the bugs;

*your camera is a MUST!

*cell phones usually work on the Island;

*do a big grocery shop before boarding the ferry; while our Co-Op store has many grocery basics, don’t expect to find your favourite L’Ancien Whole Grain Dijon mustard beside the French’s in the condiment section!

*while the Pelee Island Winery & our Island LCBO (Ontario Liquor Store) will ensure you don’t go thirsty; you should bring enough bottled drinking water for the duration of your stay, as not all Island water sources are potable;

*reserve your overnight Island accommodations well in advance of your visit; while we have many rental cottages, Bed & Breakfasts, Inns & camping sites; the summer months are our busiest time & the most popular spots book up in advance;
